When Joy Arrives, Receive It
After our immersive Satsang weekend in Brampton, in the Toronto area, someone shared this morning that they were observing quiet, positive changes within themselves over the last two or three days — more joy, more lightness, more peace, and more love.
They then asked beautifully:
“Is this a blessing, or was a wish conveyed to Guru Maharaj?”
The simple answer is:
When joy comes, receive it.
Sometimes we try to analyze happiness too quickly. We ask, “Why did this happen? Where did it come from? How long will it last?”
But perhaps joy is like sitting beneath a waterfall. When we sit under the waterfall, the cool water naturally touches us. We do not need to ask why the water is flowing. We simply allow ourselves to be refreshed.
Another example came to me some time back.
Imagine that you are surfing. There has been no wave for a while. You are losing hope and getting bored. Then suddenly, a beautiful wave arrives and lifts your surfboard to new heights. There is thrill, amazement, and joy.
At that moment, do we stop and ask, “What happened? Why did it happen? Why did it come after such a long wait?”
Or do we enjoy the wave, feel grateful for it, and soak in the beauty and bliss of the experience?
In the same way, when we sit in Satsang, gather in selfless love, remember Guru Maharaj and God, and open ourselves to the Transcendental Energy — when we put aside worldly thoughts for some time — inner joy naturally begins to flow.
Positive changes are good.
Positive energy leads to positive outcomes.
That is Satsang.
Satsang is not only a gathering. It is a field of grace, love, remembrance, and shared sincerity. When we enter that field with openness, something within us becomes lighter.
Deven Ji added a beautiful reflection: this weekend, we were doing ordinary things — meeting, talking, serving, eating, listening, meditating, and smiling — but the experience felt extraordinary.
Why?
Because for some time, we parked the constant thoughts of worldly matters. We stepped away from the weight of worries, plans, complaints, and comparisons. We were simply present with the Transcendental Energy, with one another, and with the quiet love flowing through the gathering.
That is why everyone felt happy.
That is why faces were smiling.
That is why the heart felt peaceful.
And this gives us a practical reminder.
If we can sit in meditation for a few moments in the morning, and again for a few moments in the evening, the same happiness can begin to touch our daily life.
We do not need to wait for a special weekend.
We do not need to wait for a perfect situation.
We only need to pause, remember, and return inward.
When we begin the day with remembrance, the day becomes lighter.
When we end the day with remembrance, sleep becomes more peaceful.
When we sit quietly in Dhyan, the heart begins to settle.
So let us not overthink the joy that came.
Let us receive it with gratitude.
Let us protect it with daily practice.
Let us share it through selfless love.
Let us carry it into our homes, work, relationships, and service.
May Guru Maharaj always remain pleased with all of us.
Remain happy.
Remain connected.
Remain in remembrance.
Hope to meet in person again soon.
With Light, Love, and Peace.
